LO: To spell words with the /ʃ/ sound
spelt ‘ch’ (mostly French in origin) as well as ‘s’, ‘ss(ion/ure)’
The teaching video is in the video centre
We have done so much work around The Iron Man and we hoped you loved the story as much as the teachers did!
Your last task is to write a book review about The Iron Man.
You have to write a detailed piece of writing which will help someone decide if they want to read the book or not.
Watch the teaching video or look at this week’s power point to help you.
The list of questions will help you with your writing. Please present your work as neat as it would be at school.
LO: To subtract money.
Today is an opportunity to revisit anything you found tricky in the week. This is usually what we do in class to check our understanding and chat about what we need to work on next. It might be a particular x tables or it could be some of the work you have covered this week.
You could repeat one of the warm up activities to see if you are any faster.
You could play TTRS and see if your practice this week and last week has worked for you.
Today we are going to be subtracting money.
Please watch the video lesson.
Please work through the Friday Power Point to make sure you understand what was mentioned in the video.
Complete the Friday activity. This can be printed out or write answers in your home learning book. Please don’t copy all of the questions out, just write your answers. Use any jottings and methods you would like to work out your answers in your book too, just like we do at school!
Check your work alongside the answers.
If the above work challenged you then you do not need to do this activity. Look at the Friday Extension Activity and choose either p2,3 or 4. Challenge yourself to answer some of the problems. You can check using the answers and talk through these.
The Iron Man-
LO: To create a piece of art inspired by the Story of The Iron Man by Ted Hughes.
Watch the video which talks through some different ideas.
Look at the images below for ideas.
You could create an illustration for the story depicting (showing) one of the settings, events or characters.
You could create a new front cover for the story.
You could use black paper and chalk to draw how you imagine the Iron Man to look.
You could create a 3D model of the Iron Man. Tin foil and cardboard boxes would be great for this.
You could make a model out of modelling clay.
Use whatever you have at home! Have fun and be creative. Please share your artwork!
