Reading and Phonics
Reading - Last week your child was sent home with a reading book at the book band level they have been assessed as. Please read with your child and ask them questions about the text to develop their confidence and comprehension skills. The ebooks that are available on the Oxford Reading Owl (free when you sign up) are similar to the reading books children have been taking home: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page
Please get in touch at the year1@didsburyroad.stockport.sch.uk email address if you are unsure what level your child is on.
There are some nice stories that you can read along with here too: https://www.booktrust.org.uk/books-and-reading/have-some-fun/storybooks-and-games/
Phonics - Please see the individual phonics lessons for each day below. They include a video by Mrs Partington, a YouTube video and activities to play at home!
Handwriting and Spellings
Handwriting - Use the sheets below to help practise your handwriting and letter formation. You can watch this video to help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iXUU47gvC8
Can you match the uppercase letters (we also call them capital letters) to their lowercase letters?
English - Monday 9th November
Today we would like you to practise spelling some tricky words and generating your own sentences including each word. There is an example sentence for you to see. If you would like a challenge try adding 'and', 'because' or an adjective in your sentence!
Tricky Word Sentences
Maths - Monday 9th November
Today we would have been practising using the part whole model to find number facts to 10 or 20. Have a go at filling in the missing numbers on these sheets. You only need to complete the ones you feel comfortable to do and can use anything to help you, such as counters. Only choose to do three or four sheets and you can draw them out onto paper rather than print them off!
