Didsbury Road Readers

At Didsbury Road Primary School we love reading a diverse and wide variety of books and want to share some of our favourite books with you.

Click on the sections below to have a look at the lists of suggested books for each key stage. There are some amazing books included on there.  Have a look at the 'Branching out posters' that might inspire you to try other books.

World Book Day

Thank you for your support with the children's costumes on World Book Day! The children all looked brilliant and loved sharing their favourite books with their peers. We had lots of exciting things planned to celebrate books and reading. The children had the opportunity to pair up with other classes across the school to enjoy reading, sharing and talking about books together. The Reading Council helped to deliver a special World Book Day assembly with a quiz for the children to join in with. The children also completed a book hunt around school as well as bookmark making in the library during lunchtime. We hope the children enjoyed talking about reading with you at home too!

We have just started reading Harley Hitch and the Fossil Mystery by Vashti Hardy & illustrated by George Ermos.

We can't wait to find out about Harley's school trip to the Inventia Jurassic Coast.

Didsbury Road Reading Buddies

Our Year 6 Didsbury Road Reading Buddies support our younger readers in Key Stage One. They spend time listening to them read, helping them when they find some words difficult, talking about the books they have read and asking them questions. Our Reading Buddies help to model good reading and promote an enjoyment of reading from an early age.

Mrs Gibson's favourites for year 5 and 6. Special updates for World Book Day 2021
