LO: To use symbols and keys

As well as using symbols and keys we need to be able to create them to develop our own fieldwork skills.

Let’s create a plan of the classroom. It’s like a map. We don’t use lots of words etc. Introduce idea of shapes and colours to represent tables, shelves, sink etc.

Discuss how this could be used outside with our fieldwork? Symbols and keys can also be used in a chart or graph to indicate the types of trees or leaves we find outside.
