Equality Objectives
At Didsbury Road Primary School, we welcome our duties under the Equality Act 2010. The school’s duties with regards to equality are:

- Fostering good relationships
- Advancing equality of opportunity
Didsbury Road Primary School is committed to ensuring equality of provision throughout the school community. To achieve this, our Equality Objectives 2021-2024 are as follows:
- To ensure a culturally inclusive curriculum which celebrates equality and diversity
- To further develop and promote pupils' understanding of identity, diversity, community and equality.
- To improve the progress and attainment for identified groups of pupils to close any gaps between them and their peers: Disadvantaged, EAL, SEND and any other group identified with a protected characteristic
- To raise achievement of all children through strengthening partnerships with all parents, carers and families
- To maintain and extend opportunities for pupil voice – creating a safe environment where pupils can talk about worries or issues
- To improve the engagement and participation of particular groups to raise aspirations for all
- To maintain the high levels of respect and equality within the school and further promote understanding and respect for the protected characteristics

At Didsbury Road we promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, with special emphasis on promoting equality, diversity and eradicating prejudicial incidents for pupils and staff. Our school is committed to preventing and eliminating discrimination and increasing understanding and appreciation for diversity.
Aims to eradicate discrimination
Didsbury Road Primary School aim to create a prejudice-free environment where all individuals feel happy and safe.
This environment will be achieved by:
- Being kind
- Being respectful
- Always treating all members of the school community fairly
- Developing an understanding of diversity and the benefits it can have
- Adopting an inclusive attitude
- Adopting an inclusive and diverse curriculum that is accessible to all
We are committed to having a broad and balanced curriculum. We believe that our pupils should be exposed to relevant and current ideas, issues and concepts that may challenge their understanding to help ensure pupils learn to become more accepting and inclusive of others. Challenging concepts will be delivered in a way that prevents discrimination, and instead promotes inclusive attitudes.
Dealing with prejudice
Didsbury Road Primary School does not tolerate any form of prejudice-related behaviour and we treat discrimination very seriously. When an incident is reported we ensure that appropriate action is taken and a suitable resolution is put into place.
Our pupils are taught to be:
- Kind and respectful to others
- Celebratory of cultural diversity
- Inclusive
- Aware of what constitutes discriminatory behaviour
School staff will:

- Encourage and adopt an inclusive attitude
- Lead by example
